California Wildfires: How Can Volunteerism Help

Do you have a personal encounter with the California Wildfires? If not, you are among the fortunate who missed the effects of the devastating force of nature.

People who lived in the area suffer from charred properties, lost homes, or worse, the death of loved ones. The recovery and renewal of the affected areas are ongoing. Yet, as the fire control efforts continue, don’t you wish you could do something?

To help the people who are victims of the California Wildfires, Opoli pooled the names of non-profit organizations you can get in touch with, should you decide to volunteer for the cause.

Having a hard time to decide which non-profit organization to volunteer your time and strength? Check out the three you could choose from!

Caring Choices: Your Go-to Volunteer Hub

Located in Chico, California, volunteers could do various activities such as caring for displaced animals. If you are certified doctors or nurses, you could get assigned to offer medical care.

Salvation Army: Answering the Call from Both Sides

With statewide support, both in cash and volunteers, the Salvation Army continues their efforts to provide food, shelter and other daily needs of those displaced in local churches, fairgrounds and a community college. If you’d like to volunteer, you can check the available spots on both the Southern district page (https://volunteer.usawest.org/Home.aspx) and Northern District page (https://volunteer.usawest.org/OpportunityListPage.aspx)

Humane Society of Ventura County: Heeding the Animals Pleas

Do you have the heart for the displaced animals? Here’s an ideal place where you could show your care to once-loved pets. However, they also accept donations to help animals displaced by the Woolsey and Hill Fires. It is taking in domestic animals, such as dogs, cats and birds, as well as livestock. You can sign up as a volunteer (https://www.hsvc.org/volunteer) anytime!
